Hi, I'm Alithea!
I am a traditional artist who specializes in Gouache and Watercolor based in the River Arts District in the Blue Ridge Mountains. My work is primarily focused on capturing the beauty of animals and nature. It celebrates the complex beauty of the natural world using light and color.
I started my artistic journey by drawing horses. I still enjoy drawing them to this day, but I have branched out and started including other subjects in my paintings. However, I still mainly paint subjects in the animal kingdom. My interest in Biology has had a large influence in my work. Similar to how field researchers draw their observations out in diagrams to document their findings, I strive to record the beauty around me. However, I take a less scientific approach to “recording” my observations. Instead I create images that convey more than just a subject’s anatomy and physiology. Capturing and conveying the beauty in the complexity of the life I see around me in my paintings is my ultimate goal.
I am so excited to be able to turn that passion into a business. I also create custom hand crafted pet and equine portraits.
I can't wait to work with you in capturing the personalities of your beloved pets!
